Macquarie University is coming to Tashkent. Bring your questions.
Choosing a university abroad usually means relying on websites, rankings and second-hand advice. On 20 October you can do it differently: three senior representatives from Macquarie University — including the Executive Deans of the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science and Engineering — will be in Tashkent to present the university and answer your questions in person.
Macquarie is a public university in Sydney, ranked 126th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and placed in the top 1.5 per cent of universities globally. Its campus in Macquarie Park is the only university campus in Australia with its own metro station, and more than 300 companies are based on or around it.
The evening is designed for students finishing school or a bachelor’s degree, and for parents who want to understand how studying in Australia actually works — entry requirements, costs, scholarships, timelines and what life on campus looks like.

What makes Macquarie University stand out
A few things about Macquarie that most people outside Sydney do not know.
Ranked among the world’s best
Macquarie is ranked 126th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027 — the top 1.5 per cent of universities globally.
The Wi-Fi in your pocket has a Macquarie story
Macquarie engineers, working with Australia’s CSIRO, helped turn wireless-LAN research into the world’s first Wi-Fi chipset — commercialised through a Macquarie spin-off later bought by Cisco.
The only Australian university with its own metro station
Step off the Sydney Metro straight onto a 126-hectare parkland campus, 15 km from the city centre.
300+ companies on your doorstep
The campus sits inside the Macquarie Park innovation precinct, where more than 300 leading companies are based on or around the university.
Real-world experience in every bachelor degree
Every Macquarie bachelor degree includes a PACE unit — a real project or placement with one of 3,000+ host organisations in Australia and more than 25 countries.
A campus with its own hospital
Macquarie University Hospital is Australia’s first not-for-profit teaching hospital on a university campus, and the university is a global hub for hearing research through the Australian Hearing Hub.

Study in Sydney, on a campus built around industry
Macquarie University sits in Macquarie Park, Sydney’s largest business district outside the CBD, 15 km from the city centre. The campus has its own metro station, a teaching hospital, on-campus student accommodation and more than 300 companies within walking distance — a setting where internships and graduate roles are part of daily life rather than a distant goal.
Degrees across four faculties
Not sure which course suits you? Bring your questions — the representatives will help you compare options.
Macquarie’s faculties: Arts · Business School · Medicine, Health and Human Sciences · Science and Engineering
There is more than one way into Macquarie
Direct entry
Students with strong results may apply directly to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The representatives will assess your documents at the event.
Foundation and diploma pathways
Macquarie University College, on the same campus, offers foundation and diploma programs that lead into the first or second year of a bachelor’s degree.
English requirements
Most degrees require IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or an equivalent TOEFL, PTE or Cambridge result. Some courses require more; pathway programs accept lower scores.
Tip: bring copies of your transcripts and any English test results for a more precise assessment. Source: Macquarie University Admission Policy, Schedule 1; UAC.
Scholarships for international students
Macquarie University’s Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship offers up to AUD 10,000 towards tuition for eligible high-achieving international students. Eligibility is assessed after a full offer; the representatives can explain the criteria and how to apply.
Scholarship values and eligibility are set by Macquarie University and may change. Eligibility criteria and conditions apply. Confirm the details with the university representatives at the event.
